This event is the first of its kind on Maine lakes and is going to be one massive paddle board of excitement! There is a 2K course for recreational paddlers and a 5K course for the cruizers! There will be real competition but the race is about having fun and raising money to protect Maine’s beautiful lakes. For this very reason, we have added a TWIST . There is a guaranteed way to improve your time that does not involve a specialized diet or hours at the gym. For every $100 of sponsorship raised, we will take a full minute off your race time! For a pledge form, click here. Sound too good to be true? Well, maybe it is… But we are doing it anyway! We also know some of you die-hard board enthusiasts will sneer at this idea. But you know what? People pay to win all the time! We are just doing it openly! Hooray for transparency! However, we will still have medals for best (actual) time so don’t stop your core exercises if you happen to be doing them in the first place…
All proceeds from this event will benefit the Lakes Environmental Association, which is a non-profit regional lakes association dedicated to preserving and protecting lakes. If you think Maine is only about lobster and rocky coasts, you’re missing out! It’s time to come see our clear and pristine inland waters from the vantage of a paddle board!
