Lakes Environmental Association offers outreach and education programs throughout the seasons through our Watershed Connections series. The goal of this education series is to encourage a connection to place through explorations of the natural world. We believe that with a strong connection to our surroundings, an interest in environmental stewardship naturally follows.
Starting in 2020 we began offering “Pop-Up Events” in addition to regularly scheduled hikes, walks, and talks. With pop-up events, we look at the weather forecast for the coming week and determine which day will be the best to go out. We then reach out to a list of people interested in attending. Sometimes the walks are themed, like wildflowers, spring birds, or animal tracking in the winter. Other times we simply lead a group walk through the woods and the focus will depend on the interests of those attending. Some our most popular walks include:
While in-person activities are our preferred medium, we also offer virtual events so folks can attend from anywhere. Please check the calendar below and our homepage for upcoming events.
All events are free to LEA members, except where special program costs apply. To become a member, click here.
If you want to explore on your own, please check out our preserves and trails with your family. (Find trail maps and more info here.)
Although we are now back in the schools, we have a variety of digital content for classrooms, teachers and public education. Please be sure to check back in as these videos are regularly updated.
You can also find out about events on our Facebook page and on our homepage.
