Eric Venturini from the Xerces Society will join us for a presentation on native pollinators of Maine, how they affect Maine’s agricultural economy and what is going on with pollinator populations in Maine. Eric hails from a wide range of scientific research, from gill-netting fish in Ireland, to farming aquaponics operations in Hawaii, to monitoring fishing vessels in Alaska, to measuring archived bumblebees. His more recent studies have focused on pollinators- how drought affects them, the connections between pollinators and apples and blueberries, and runs a consulting business to aid homeowners and farmers in increasing pollinator habitat in yards and on-farm. Bring your questions for Eric and join us for an interesting presentation at the Science Center! Please register with alanna@leamaine.org, $5 LEA members, $10 non-members.
