Vernal Pool Presentation

WHEN: Thursday April 29, 2021 6:00 pm - 19:00:00

WHERE: Zoom Room!

Ephemeral pools: here today, sometimes gone too soon. Vernal pool wetlands are complex and varied, and house large numbers of insects and amphibians that help to feed the rest of the forest. The spring rains bring amphibians to the pools from their upland winter homes where they breed and lay eggs before returning to the forest. Vernal pools are special spaces where fish cannot live (thus reduced predation on the eggs), but sometimes the pools dry up before the tadpoles become frogs and salamanders. Join Alanna for a zoom presentation on these magical spaces to learn about the species who utilize them for part of their life cycle, and how we can protect these here today, gone too soon spaces from development.
