Woodland Owner Appreciation Day!

WHEN: Saturday 28th of September 2019, 12:00 PM - 04:00 PM

WHERE: Highland Research Forest, Commons Drive, Bridgton (detailed parking location provided upon registration)

Thank you for your woodlands and all they do! Your woodlands provide habitat for wildlife, a natural filter for clean water downstream, and many other benefits we can’t even see, like carbon sequestration. Just by owning woodlands, you are keeping our hills green and waters clear and cool and helping to sustain a Maine way of life. Please join us so we can share our appreciation.

Schedule of the afternoon:

12:00-12:30 Welcome and remarks from organizations that appreciate your woodlands

12:30-1:45 Complimentary lunch and time to enter the raffle for prizes. Mingling with woodland professionals to chat about your questions.

1:45-3:30 Walks and discussions throughout Highland Research Forest. Choose from one of three topics:

  1. Managing your woodland for sustainable income with foresters Paul Larrivee and Jesse Duplin and district forester Shane Duigan of the Maine Forest Service
  2. Attracting wildlife to your forest with Maine Audubon’s Sally Stockwell and Sarah Spencer of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife
  3. Planning for future generations with Rich Merk of Maine Woodland Owners and Jon Evans of Loon Echo Land Trust

3:30-4:00 Raffle prize drawings and brews from Allagash Brewing Company (brewed with water from Sebago Lake!)

We hope you can join us to celebrate woodlands and waters and a lovely afternoon in the forest. In the event of rain, we will meet at the Maine Lake Science Center on 51 Willett Road in Bridgton, Maine.

Registration is required and space is limited!  To register, please click here. For more information, please contact alanna@mainelakes.org or call (207) 647-8580.
