Although our wetlands here in Maine are quite… frozen… at this point, on February 2, 2022 wetlands are celebrated around the world (they’re not all frozen right now, you know!) The World Wetlands Day website has a number of resources for citizens, municipalities, teachers and students to explore wetlands and take action in their protection. Much like the rest of environmental endeavors these days, this year is a call to action to invest financial, human and political capital to save the world’s wetlands from disappearing and to restore those we have degraded.
