Abundant sunshine and light wind made for spectacular conditions for this year’s Paddle Battle race on July 5th. The 2-kilometer and 5-kilometer races, which hug the east side of Highland Lake, drew in around 70 competitors from across the Lake Region and beyond. Congratulations to this year’s winners, and to Jason Beauduin for winning the Vapor 10 Kayak raffle donated by Ski Hot. All proceeds from this event benefit Lakes Environmental Association.
After the adults had their turn, the kids’ “grom” race brought many cheers and hoots from the shoreline as 15 young athletes dug their paddles into the water for a short loop in the protected cove.
