Due to lack of interest we are cancelling this event. We apologize for any convenience.
Help us celebrate the kick off for the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend 2019! Join Alanna for a winter night walk out to Holt Pond, searching for some sky without light so we can gaze at the stars! Using H.A. Rey’s amazing book, The Stars: A New Way to See Them, we will contemplate the night sky while attempting to maintain warmth in our fingers. Sounds like a total blast, right?! I’ll bring you some hot cocoa, it’ll be great. Things you should bring: headlamp (preferably one with a red light option), layers, snacks, water, good boots, and snowshoes. (If you’d like to borrow a pair please let us know!) If you tend to run cold, some hand warmers are a great idea too. This is kid and adult friendly, all are welcome. Heads up: Grist Mill road is typically not plowed in the winter, we will meet on the Perley Road junction, park and walk out to Holt. We hope you can join us! This event is free but please register with alanna@leamaine.org.
