Trail Work at Highland Research Forest

WHEN: Friday April 25, 2025 9:00 am - 12:00:00

WHERE: Meet at Carsley Brook Trail off of Big Sandy Road in Bridgton

Spring is here, the peepers are peeping, and LEA is excited to get out in the woods!

We are getting a group of volunteers together this Friday, April 25th, to clear a new section of trail in the Highland Research Forest*. For those familiar with the area, we will be connecting a section of Hatch’s Hurdle using an existing (old) logging road to Hatch’s hollow. There are several trees down across the trail as well as storm-damaged limbs to be cleared. If you are interested, please bring (labeled) loppers, hand shears, and portable pruning saws if you have them handy. Be sure to bring gloves, water, and snacks. LEA will have a few tools to share, and there will be plenty of hands-on opportunities. Participants will be asked to sign a volunteer waiver prior to heading onto the trail.

*We will meet at the trailhead of Carsley Brook Trail off of Big Sandy Road in Bridgton at 9 AM (see starred location on the map below – we are not meeting at the main Highland Research Forest trailhead). Parking is limited; carpooling is encouraged. We plan to end at noon.

We are looking forward to adding to an already extensive and beautiful trail system for all to enjoy.

Registration required. Contact Jake at jake@mainelakes.org or 207-647-8580 with questions.
