Crossbow/ archery season has begun which means it’s time to don our favorite and exceptionally fashionable blaze orange in the woods. Both the Holt Pond Preserve and the Highland Research Forest are open to hunting and regular season (for Maine residents) starts October 30. For more info on dates and seasons please visit the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and if you’re not sure, just wear the bright orange! We recommend two or more articles of blaze orange such as a hat and vest. Please note that most of the hunters in the woods are exceptionally careful, but unfortunately it only takes one not paying attention to do real and lasting damage!
